There is this book that's out that is called "For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf". I wanna read this book so badly; that I might actually purchase it online. I know its a pretty old book but I heard that Tyler Perry is directing the movie. The book derives from a 1975 stage play by Ntozake Shange, It has been performed Off-Broadway,on Broadway, adapted as a book, a television movie, and now there is film adaption in the works. You should defenitly consider buying/borrowing this book...
Structurally,For Colored Girls is a series of 20 poems, referred collectively as a "choreopoem", performed through a cast of nameless women, each know on only by a color: " Lady in Yellow", "Lady in Purple", etc.. The poems deal with love, abandonment, rape, abortion. The performances of the seven actresses are focused on their specific stories; i.e., Lady in Blue's visceral account of a woman who chooses to have an abortion; and Lady in Red's tale of domestic violence. The end of the play brings together all of the women for "a laying on of hands," where Shange evokes the power of womanhood as the Lady in Red begins the mantra " I found God in myself/ and I loved her/ I loved her fiercely."
And they say jersey don't have any art events!! Please.. Thats just an excuse for you to go to New York hahaha. There are 2 events i probably will be attending today; the first one is "CUDA Culture Art Benefit & Hudson Cradle Baby Shower" in Jersey City and the 2nd event is "Stacks on Deck Custom Skateboard Show" in Newark. Should be bringing my camera for these events to show you guys how it went.. Please come out and Support Jersey Art Movement - Info below...

Who is the heck is Nelson Caban you ask? A current native of Harlem ,Nelson Caban is a working/traveling artist & a fellow blogger. Right Now Nelson is in Senegal working on a couple of art projects especially in the capital. I spoke to him via Facebook lol:"Senegal is amazing... It's 6:40am and I just got in not too long ago... I have been spending nights painting on walls in the capital".
